Vic “Back to Work Fund” for TAFE

23 March 2015 ……………………………………………………………………………………………………… The Andrews government has announced a $50 million plan to provide training courses to give unemployed Victorians the skills they need. ……………………………………………………………………………………………….......…… The $50 million TAFE Back to Work Fund will fund  TAFEs that are struggling financially and help institutes build partnerships with companies in the six growth sectors of the economy identified by the Labor government’s Back to Work Plan to create at least 100,000 jobs. VET declines in Victoria

23 March 2015 ………………………………………………………………………………………………………  The Andrews government says the latest Victorian Training Market Report the vocational education and training (VET) in Victoria was in crisis under the former Napthine government. ……………………………………………………………………………………………….......…… TAFE enrolments, in particular have continued to plummet, with government-subsidised places falling by 33% over the past year. More vulnerable Victorians are missing out with government-funded training enrolments by regional students, trainees, disabled and disadvantaged learners all in decline. Sydney TAFE signs scholarships agreement with TDA Sydney TAFE is one of several TAFE Institutes to sign up with the TDA National Scholarships Foundation (TDA NSF) to award a large share of the scholarship program. The agreement with Sydney TAFE is the most significant to date. Rob Cousins, Associate Director of Sydney TAFE said the TDA NSF scholarships provide students with truly national recognition of their ambitions and achievements. Other Institutes which have arrangements with TDA NSF are Riverina and South Western Sydney in NSW, Central in Western Australia, CIT in the ACT and The Gordon in Victoria. ‘Dodgy’ vocational training practices to be targeted by government crackdown
