Regional students will be poorly served if universities compete solely on price

Forrest review says TAFE funding and courses should be decided by employers

Uni reforms “do or die” in the Senate

The Australian    |    1 August 2014 ……………………………………………………………………………………………………… The Grattan Institute’s Andrew Norton says the government will need to negotiate its proposed higher education reforms through the Senate,  as most will require legislation to implement. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………  He said the government’s 20% funding cut will have to go through the Senate, while changes to HELP loans also require legislative amendments. Norton said the government’s plan to open the market for bachelor degree subsidies to non-university providers will need legislative amendments to establish a definition for those institutions eligible for the subsidy. ACPET National Monday Update | #565 | 4 August 2014

In Focus   I am very happy to report that we continue to have good numbers enrolling for the ACPET Conference and APIEF. It is particularly important for me being from Western Australia to see the Conference here be a success. There are some iconic venues being used, the Western  Australian Cricket Association, Little Creatures Brewery and the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle, and the program is looking exciting but also covering some critical topics in today’s education and training environment. The transformative nature of TAFE
