Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced Manufacturing Skills Plus, a $35 million initiative to provide 6,800 new training places to up-skill workers and help them make the transition to higher paying high tech manufacturing jobs.
The Manufacturing Skills Plus initiative aims to stimulate the manufacturing sector by:
- Investing $35 million in skills training over the next two years to help businesses transition from low tech to high tech manufacturing.
- Creating 6,800 training places for manufacturing workers to develop new skills.
- Providing a greater level of support for small businesses with less than 100 employees, to help them develop and expand into new competitive manufacturing areas.
