The Australian    |    19 October 2012 At least 95 jobs could go and training could be slashed from Australia's oldest vocational college, as NSW replicates Victoria's wholesale cuts to TAFEs.  Confidential proposals at Sydney Institute would see courses deleted or rationalised as Australia’s biggest TAFE reins in costs in response to private competition, state budget cuts and further anticipated market reforms. Holmesglen looks for a training hospital on-campus

The Age    |    19 October 2012 Having done a deal with the University of Canberra (UC) to set up a UC branch at it’s Chadstone campus,  Holmesglen TAFE is now looking to  share a campus with a hospital in a plan to secure its future and expand its health faculty.   Holmesglen chief executive Bruce Mackenzie says a private health provider is conducting a feasibility study on building a hospital at one of its campuses but he declined to name the health provider. Meanwhile Charles Sturt University will offer dental hygiene and oral therapy courses at the Chadstone campus from next year.
