Typhoon Haiyan has left thousands dead and caused severe destruction across the Philippines. Aid agencies are now calling for donations to provide immediate aid to those affected.
The super typhoon crossed the Philippines on Friday, November 8 and the country’s national disaster agency says more than a million people have been displaced and 4.5 million people affected across 36 provinces.
Reporters in the region say conditions are dire with the bodies of victims lining the streets, buildings destroyed and access to essential infrastructure including water, power and communications difficult.
Aid agencies are working to deliver food, medical care, tents and water to the devastated communities. The weakened typhoon also made landfall in Vietnam.
