The Position:

CSIRO Communications has an opportunity for a Digital Editor to join their focussed team on an indefinite basis. To be successful in this newly-created role, you will be a digital native, an experienced writer with an extensive knowledge of the possibilities available online to tell stories that are shared, develop content that is concise and compelling, and deliver material that is easy to find and understand.

As the Digital Editor, you will set the editorial direction on the soon-to-be-relaunched csiro.au, csironewsblog.com and other key digital channels, consistent with CSIRO’s broader communication strategy. You will understand audience needs, have a strong news sense,  a keen eye for good imagery and design and use a diversity of faces, stories and multimedia to share CSIRO’s work.

You will play a crucial role in bridging the divide between technical and content know-how and will provide a key leadership role in the digital space.


Location:
 North Ryde, NSW
Salary: $92k to $100k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Ref no: NSW14/02318B
Tenure: Indefinite


To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as journalism, communication or multimedia and/or equivalent experience.
  • High-level writing skills and experience writing for a wide variety of audiences and channels in the online space with a demonstrated understanding of tone of voice, brand attributes and the policies and guidelines that exist to support them.
  • Experience managing campaigns and web content projects that have delivered creative, clear and appropriate content with the desired results shown through evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic leadership, by using initiative and innovation to drive effective change.
  • Proactive approach and ability to build and maintain high trust, respected and collaborative working relationships.
