The Australian Council of Private Education and Training has called on the government to extend the streamlined visa arrangements granted to universities in April 2012, the VET sector, saying that an industry that can positively contribute to Australia’s economy and create jobs is being left to decline.
ACPET chief Claire Field says that the sector has collaborated for long enough on both the Knight Review and the subsequent Assessment Level Framework Review while endlessly waiting for decisions from government.
It’s time for the government to demonstrate if real actions lie behind its claims to value a knowledge economy and a future for Australia’s international education sector beyond the universities. The government must announce the outcomes of the Assessment Level Framework Review and work with providers to fully engage with Asia.
