Maybe Vic should refer its VET regulatory powers…?

ABC 7.30    9 August 2012

Tertiary Education and Skills Minister Chris Evans responds to recent ABC 7.30 reports on quality issues in the VET sector in Victoria.

We’re trying to drive a much better regulatory framework over quality…it hasn’t been done well by the States and Victoria has been the place where we’ve been most concerned where we assess the risks to be highest. We’ve already I think refused or suspended or cancelled seven organisations in Victoria and there’s about 300 audits occurring or either planned for Victoria because we accept it is high risk.  I must say because the Victorian Government hasn’t referred their powers, our capacity there is much diminished.
