More apprentices start training Commencements of trade and non-trade apprentices increased in the September quarter, according to early trend estimates from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). Trade apprentice commencements rose from 22,700 in the June quarter to a new high of 27,200 in the September quarter. Non-trade commencements have increased in the last two quarters, from 33,700 in the March quarter to 43,600 in the September quarter. This follows a period of decline in the preceding four quarters. Open2Study reaches 100,000 students
Open2Study Media | 28 October 2013 In just six months, Open Universities Australia has reached 100,000 enrolments in its free online learning platform with 53,000 students from more than 180 countries undertaking one or more of its massive open online courses, or MOOCs. Open2Study began by offering 10 free subjects in April, with each taking four weeks to complete. ARC research grants announced
Commonwealth Media | 8 November 2013 Education minister Christopher Pyne has announced $522 million in funding for 1177 new research projects under the Australia Research Council’s (ARC) Future Fellowships scheme (commencing 2013) and Major Grants scheme (commencing 2014). The schemes for which these projects have received funding include: 201 projects under the Future Fellowships scheme 703 projects under the Discovery Projects scheme 200 projects under the Discovery Early Career Research Award scheme 63 projects under the Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme 10 projects under the Discovery Indigenous scheme.
